Ergonomic Interface across all Mobile Platforms using AngularJS

AngularJS has the agility and versatility of JavaScript that makes it the most favorable platform for cross-platform application development. AngularJS can be used in tandem with popular mobile app development platforms such as Ionic and PhoneGap to create ergonomic UI elements that can access various device functions.

Mobile Angular UI

Angular UI for mobile has a simple framework similar to jQuery Mobile. It has all the essential components that are missing in Bootstrap 3 such as sidebars, switches, scrollable areas, overlays, and appropriate top and bottom navbars. The platform has forceful libraries such as overthrow.js and fastclick.js that gives a native experience on a cross-platform application. The Angular.js directives make it easy to organize components without jQuery dependencies.

Responsive and Migration

Mobile Angular UI has many Bootstrap 3 syntax that enables developers to convert existing web applications in mobile applications. A lightweight CSS file helps perform the reverse task so that developers can create fully responsive, touch-enabled interface. AngularJS thus gives complete solutions for cross platform app development with all the components. As an open source platform, AngularJS receives extensive support and resources from developers worldwide. For migration, developers can use mobile-angular-ui.migrate module. The module translates old syntax and reintroduces dropped features.

UI Components

Most of the Bootstrap components have been retained in AngularJS so that mobile app developers can use existing CSS components to customize the appearance and use Mobile Angular UI dependence on bootstrap without updating to Bootstrap3 changes. The main components of Angular UI are –
  • Navbars – only difference is developer has to add ng-if
  • Sidebars – they require SharedState and bindOuterClick to activate/inactivate them
  • Scrollables – .scrollable component is backward compatible and has updates in the form of:
  • -.scrollable-header/.scrollable-footer – to add fixed header or footer to scrollable area without the CSS height and position
    -.scrollable-content – it is a scrollTo function

-ui-scroll-bottom/ui-scroll-top – they are directives to handle events and implement infinite scroll feature
  • Modals and Overlays – Overlays are differently styled modals, which in turn remain the same as the one on Bootstrap 3. Both modals and overlays have default settings to show up using CSS rule .modal{display:block}. This makes the Angular animation feature ngAnimate easy to implement. An overlay can be created by adding .modal-overlay class to a modal.
AngularUI is a companion suite with AngularJS framework and has UI widgets and directives that are essential to the core cross-platform app development project using AngularJS.
